The Chulada da Ponte Velha is a project born from the interest of several musicians to revive and blend the musical practices of the past with the present, such as the drum beats and chulas from the descantes of Douro and Minho.

The use of flutes, bagpipes, bass drums, iron percussion instruments, chuleira fiddle, plucked guitar, and wire-stringed guitars like the braguesa and the amarantina characterize the sound of this band.
